Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle therapeutic massage in which a very light pressure and gentle, rhythmic pumping technique is applied to move the skin in the direction of lymph flow.
This encourages the movement of the lymph fluid around the body that carries substances essential to defense of the body as well as help in the removal of toxins.

What is lymphatic drainage massage good for?
The Lymphatic system plays a vital role in the body by regulating the immune system. When the lymphatic system becomes compromised in any way, lymphatic fluid builds up and stagnates causing the entire system to become toxic.
There are around twice as many lymph vessels as blood vessels in the body but unlike blood, which is pumped around by the heart, the lymph system has no pump. The pressure from the blood vessels and movement from the muscles pushes the lymphatic fluid around.
Lymphatic drainage clears blockages, eliminates metabolic wastes and toxins from the body, helps in the transport of nutrients to cells and increases metabolism. This all leads to the reduction of excess fluid and assisting in weight reduction. It also has a calming effect on the nervous system and helps relieve stress and tension.
Lymphatic drainage massage is recommended for a general health and with regular use it can also help with conditions such as:
- Toxic build up and fluid retention (puffy ankles, legs, bloating)
- Cellulite and excess weight
- Stress, Anxiety, Tension
- Recurring infections such as cold and flu
- Bloating and constipation, poor digestion
